Q0. Does ColorTilt work on an iPod Touch?
A0. Yes! ColorTilt works on both iPhone and iPod Touch, including the new iPhone 3G.
Q1. How do I save my artwork?
A1. To save artwork in ColorTilt, use the built-in screenshot capability of your iPhone or iPod Touch and a snapshot of the screen will be saved to the Camera Roll in your Photos Library.
Q2. How do I take a screenshot?
A2. To take a screenshot with your iPhone or iPod Touch running the new iPhone OS 2.0 or later, hold the sleep/wake button down and then push the home button (or vice-versa, but doing it this way will reduce the chance of quitting the application). You will see a white flash and your screen will be saved to the Camera Roll in your Photos Library.
Q3. How do I save my artwork to my background or email it to my friends?
A3. After taking a screenshot and sending to your Photos Library, you can save your artwork as your background or email to your friends from within the Photos application.
Q3. How do I find the color I am looking for?
A3. [Spoiler Alert: If you want to figure this out for yourself, move on to the next question]. The first screen you see upon launch is a very rough color wheel that shows you how the colors are all connected to one another. If you hold the phone flat on its back then the background color will be black. Tilt gently to the right to get colors on the right side of the color wheel. Then from flat again, tilt gently to the left to get colors on the left side of the color wheel. If you tilt the top of your phone down, you will get colors on the top of the color wheel. If you tilt the bottom of your phone down, you will get colors on the bottom of the color wheel. Colors start out dark and get lighter the more your tilt. Hold the phone vertical in any direction to get white. There is a little bit more going on behind the scenes, but knowing the above will make it much easier to find the color of your choice. You can also lay on your back and draw while looking up. You do not get any more colors, but you can relax in bed while drawing!
Q4. How do I draw in the color I want?
A4. You have two options - freestyle and frozen. In freestyle mode, the background color changes as you tilt the phone and you just draw on the screen with your finger. In this mode, your lines will change color as you draw depending on the tilt of the phone. In frozen mode, you freeze the background color to one you like and then draw in that color. To select between freestyle and frozen mode, tap any corner of the screen (or hold any corner if you are still using v1.0).

Q5. How do I erase part of my drawing?
A5. In v2.0, an eraser tool was added. Select the eraser and choose your brush size, and then just draw to erase.
Q6. How do I get to the Options screen?
A6. In v2.0, an Options screen was added. To get to this screen from the drawing screen, hold down any corner of the screen for a little over a second. The Options screen will then appear.
Q7. How do I change the size and/or opacity of the brush stroke?
A7. In v2.0, you can change the brush stroke size and opacity using slider controls on the Options screen.
Q8. How do I change the sampling rate of the accelerometer so that the background color will change more or less often?
A8. In v2.0, you can change the background color change rate using a slider control on the Options screen.
Q9. How do I turn off the clicking sound that occurs when I tap a corner of the screen?
A9. In v2.0, you can turn off sound effects with a button on the Options screen.
Q10. My application crashes and returns me to the home screen. What's up?
A10. Any third party application that you run on your iPhone or iPod Touch may have bugs that cause other applications to crash. If ColorTilt and other applications on your phone are crashing, then it is likely that one of your applications has a memory leak that is slowly using up your memory. When you get to a low-memory condition, then any application that requires a large block of memory to run, such as ColorTilt, may have problems running. The best way to avoid low-memory conditions is to turn your iPhone or iPod Touch off and back on whenever problems arise. If an application crashes when it is run immediately after turning your mobile device back on, then the application is likely at fault. All applications developed by IMAK Creations are tested for memory leaks before being released to Apple.
Q11. I'm drawing using my finger, but nothing appears on the screen. What's wrong?
A11. Most likely, you are in erase mode instead of pencil mode. In erase mode, the border around the screen disappears to give you a visual clue. Just go to the Options screen by holding down any corner and use the pencil/erase toggle. |
